 Albidayer Stud - Announcement
Dear Friends, Clients and Breeders:
Recently, a foal by Marajj was tentatively diagnosed as having a condition called Cerebellar Abiotrophy (CA). The only way a foal can be affected with this condition is if both parents are carriers of the gene. Although there is no direct genetic test for this disease, they have identified certain markers they believe indicate which horses are carriers.
We then sent a hair sample from Marajj for testing to see if he had the markers associated with the gene. The test has confirmed that he is a carrier of the condition. Carriers show no symptoms, but if bred to another carrier there is a 25% chance they can produce a foal with the condition, and 75% chance the foal will be fine.
A foal affected with CA will begin to show symptoms of head shaking, and lack of coordination. These symptoms generally appear at 6 weeks to 4 months of age and continue to worsen. There is no cure. To find out more about this condition, please go to the site www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/genomic/cerebellar/
A carrier (such as Marajj) when bred to a non-carrier will never produce a foal with CA. Therefore, we would like to encourage everyone to have their mares tested prior to breeding in order to avoid the chance of having a foal with this condition. If your mare tests positive you can then decide if you wish to take the risk in breeding, or else would like to choose a different mare to breed.
For anyone who is already expecting a foal by Marajj and may have some concern, a hair sample of the foal after it is born can quickly determine if it will develop the disease or not.
Below you will find links to all the forms and instructions necessary for testing your mares and foals if you wish.
While we realize this is an inconvenience, it is our sincere wish for everyone who has supported Marajj to have a beautiful and healthy foal.

The 2008 Dubai Show was a thrilling event that showcased some of the Worlds most celebrated Arabian horses. The competition included many past, reigning and for certain, future World Champions. Brookville Arabians clientele had a most successful show and we congratulate Sheikh Mohammed Bid Saud Al Qasimi on the beautiful Marajj being named Reserve Champion Stallion! Marajj is now heading back to Europe to accumulate more frequent flyer miles to compete in Europe for the 2008 show season with Mr.Scott Allman.
We also salute Dr.Ghanem Hadrji on his success at the Dubai Show with the beautiful mares Lucky Star, Belle Besson & Besson Dreams, all of which were rewarded Top Five in their classes! It was a very special day for Dr.Ghanem Hadjri, especially with the Top Five win that his filly sired by Ames Charisma x Jambalia was rewarded and the fact that he was her breeder!

It was 2 years ago that he entrusted Brookville Arabians to select a group of Arabians to add to his breeding program and that would be competitive in the show ring, and competitive they have proven to be at the Abu Dhabi show! Lucky Star BVA dominated the 3 year old filly Class and went on to be Junior Champion filly! The mare Jambalia was chosen to be Champion 6-8 Year old Mare and then went on to be crowned Reserve Champion Mare AND the High Point Award winner of the Show! Congratulations!

The World Championships held each December in Paris, France is a must for all Arabian horse enthusiasts to attend. The most beautiful Arabian horses from around the globe compete with dignity and desire to please their handlers, owners and spectators alike. Brookville Arabians once again attended the show, this year sponsoring and presenting the "Best Movement" award of the show to the beautiful mare that also went on to be crowned World Champion Senior Mare "Robin K." It was a special moment for Brookville Arabians trainer Robin Hopkinson as she presented this award to the now "World Champion" that was named after her as a baby by her breeder Marillo Kammer because of Robin's belief in her as a young foal. The high light of the show was when the beautiful "Marajj" was class winner and crowned "Reserve World Champion Junior Colt" after a long and highly competitive show season in the Middle East as well as Europe.Expertly shown by Mr.Scott Allman of Specifically Equine and proudly owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi of Albidayer Stud of Sharjah, Marajj commanded the attention of the spectators and judges and was rewarded for his and everyone who believed in him. It is with great pride that Brookville Arabians has the honors of welcoming Marajj back to the United States where he will stand at stud during the 2007 breeding season and be shown at the United States National Championships by Robin Hopkinson.

Brookville Arabians owner Annabella Gelbard and trainer Robin Hopkinson traveled to Aachen,Germany to once again maintain a global presence with our continued desire and goals of offering support through marketing and supporting the Brookville Arabians cliental. It is with great pride that we were there to support the wonderful Scottsdale Unanimous Champion Junior Colt "Marajj" owned by Sheihk Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi of Albidayer Stud as well as Isabella Versace owned by Ms.Lisa Dunn of England. Isabella Versace was awarded a Top Five in very strong competition and Marajj was the class winner as well as being named Top Five in the Junior Championships. Once again the Aachen Show's level of competition was outstanding and sets an example of what the Arabians Horse Breed is all about. Type, movement, excitement and enjoying meeting new friends as well as visiting with old friends that share the same love for this great breed.
